Everyone is Sick

So we have not been doing to much as far as school goes, we have all had the flu the past week. It started from my husband that works in an environment were he is in contact with thousands of tourists daily. Me, being the germ freak always reminding him to sanitize his hands before he enters this house didn't work this time. He began feeling bad 9 days ago and felt worse every day, he of course wouldn't go tot he doctor. Then on Sunday my chest felt like a ton of bricks were pressing down on it, and Kayak started running a fever. I waited until Tuesday to go get it checked out and yes we have the swine flu, H1N1, or whatever you want to call it. It is the same as the seasonal flu except it is more respiratory symptoms. It hit us all very much the same fever, chest discomfort, cough, headache, and body ache. However we all have to be stuck inside until the last one (Star) with a fever is over it for 48 hours. At the doctor they said 5-7 days but I read online 48 hours and I have been in this house only 4 days now and we all have cabin fever! I still would not get the vaccine, I am glad we got the flu and are fine. This is just another pandemic the government is blowing way out of proportion!

I knew my week was going to well and something was about to crack! Yes, Star yesterday was a true rebel on all levels. She refused and I mean refused to do school, it took 4 hours and it should have only been 2. The precious child was acting like she didn't know ANY of the numbers (words) and then she forgot her spelling words and couldn't read her 2 Bob books. I was trying to remain calm and keep my cool, I think when she saw I wasn't getting worked up ( on the outside) she gave in! Then we had a homeschooling group park day and she fell in love with a little girl there. After we left she wanted me to call her Mom and see if she could come over today, I thought it was so cute. Anyway I released all my tension last night at ladies night, and I am hopeful that after the weekend my sweet eager to learn child shows up!

Great week so far........

It is only Tuesday yes I know, but Star can read 5 books, our school time is getting better and better everyday, and we met a great homeschooling group that is close by! So for me this is what is keeping me going on this journey. I love learning thru my child's eyes, we are growing Lima beans and they have started to sprout so I told her we have to plant them. The next sentence out of her mouth was," we can't plant them because I don't want a giant to live in the beanstalk". Every week we stick to one "theme" and I guess the "J'' and Jack in the beanstalk stuck with her!
We are doing The Very Hungary Caterpillar this week, for reading I read the book and they use the felt board to help recreate the story, then we use this story to learn the days of the week, counting and colors for Kayak. Star made a egg carton caterpillar and we actually found a cocoon outside and have been watching to see if the butterfly comes out. Well today I happen to look up and see a beautiful butterfly, so she thinks it came from the cocoon, what luck! Also we are excited about the new Co-op because it is geared toward 4-7 year olds, most of the other groups are children of all ages that are doing homeschooling. Every week a parent teaches about a subject or does a craft, I think I will do something to do with cooking not sure yet. Don't ever look behind you, always keep your eyes on what is right in front of you because you can't change what happened yesterday!
