October Happenings

Well here we are at the end of October so we have been doing fall activities and getting ready for our first Halloween kiddie party. In school we are still watching our acorns and Lima beans waiting patiently for them to sprout, we are working with Kayak and her colors and numbers. Star is her "teacher" this week and I must say she is very good at it. Star has moved on and is now able to read 4 of the Bob books, we also have been doing spelling words she has learned 30 so far. I am amazed every day at how fast they learn, most days they are very eager to start school today was a little difficult. We usually try to stay on schedule starting at 9:30 and going until they loose interest or we finish. After lunch and while Kayak naps Star and I do things that require more one on one time. Here are some pictures from this past week I have to get busy cleaning out closets for now!

Today was another amazing day here in Florida! We did some shopping in the morning then visited one of my favorite sister in laws, and finally came home and relaxed for the rest of the day. We planted Lima beans in a zip lock bag in the window, had a dance contest, played with the bubble machine, and while Kayak was napping we made decorations for our first Halloween party it is going to be Saturday. The girls have decided to be fifties style and wear the old poodle skirt outfits (very cute) and I was just happy they didn't want to be some kind of princess!
As for school today we did jumping for addition, read our Bob books, did our spelling words and worked on some letter P writing skills. Overall we accomplished more than I expected so it was a great day, but wait to top it off I bought the last pack of diapers I will ever have to buy! I am doing the old school naked training with Kayak if she doesn't pick up the whole potty training thing this week :)

This week we have a couple of fall experiments going on and the girls are so excited everyday to check the progress. We are growing acorns and watching natures effect on pine cones, to stay with the theme we are going to a local Fall Festival today then a pumpkin patch and hayride tonight. Yesterday we did the float and sink with water (always a favorite) we had a water balloon fight, did our spelling words, jump to count, balanced objects,Star read her two Bob books all by herself, made a much needed Time Out corner, and started reorganizing the school room :) I guess we got most of what I wanted to accomplish done, we are cleaning out closets for our annual neighborhood yard sale ( of course I love to get rid of stuff). Well I am off now to get them dressed and enjoy this beautiful day with my wonderful girls!

Back in the swing of things.........

So Star is done with the formal pre k thing and we are getting into a groove again around here! We have had a couple of vacations and I have been slacking on the whole blog thing but I am going to start updating daily (I hope) to keep a record for myself of what is going on.
As for Kayak we never stopped doing Tot school I haven't updated it in a while but we still keep with a theme and work around it for a week or two. We are doing a pumpkin and letter P theme for the next couple of weeks. Today we did experiments with magnets, made pumpkin art, practiced counting with widgets, pattern cards with bears, Star did her spelling words, and pocket chart.
So now it is Thursday and I never finished yesterday's post :( We did so much running around today Aldi, Wal Mart, Publix, bank, play date, it has just been one of those days. Kayak didn't even get to take a nap so they were in bed at 7 sharp tonight. As for school Star has learned all of her spelling words (16) for this week, and she read 2 Bob Books all by herself and only missed one word! I think she is doing great, we have so much fun and she loves to learn so it makes my job so much easier. Sometimes she will say " are you the Mommy or the Teacher", so cute.
